The Bay mens store in dt Toronto is miles ahead of Macy's right now. But it's not indicative of the entire chain.

I agree too that much of my wardrobe is purchased outside of Canada because of the huge savings but I also get a 50% discount at a luxury retailer in Canada so that helps if I want $300.00 jeans (which on occasion, I do -there really is a difference!).

Another thing Canadian retailers often suffer from is a complete lack of inventory.

But in the grand scheme of things, we really don't need nearly as much crap as we buy and I'm often embarassed at what I end up throwing out or donating. Sometimes stuff that still has original price tags attached.

The fact is if you're a little business guy you better have stuff that no one else does because you really can't compete with large retailers.

And I'm not even going to get into the horrible customer service in Canada versus the U.S. (but at least it is still tons better than customer service in Europe).
