Foster looked around, saw the essence of Vancouver's built fabric, from the brutalist exposed concrete of the 70's and 80's west end to the current all too pervasive glass and metal trend, and melded them together in an expressive but subtle way, using more European sensibility than we Canadians can appreciate.
