I think if we had more people who have obtained at least bachelors degree in something they would stay. In SLC I remember reading 28% of our population has a bachelors or beyond while in San Fransisco and Seattle I believe it was upwards of 40%. I think that may be a big factor in why they headed west and north west.
Let me check on those figures for Seattle and San Fran.

True, but it can also go both ways. Perhaps there aren't as many bachelor holders because there isn't as big a need for them.
