A bit late in posting a comment/response on the Traffic Bridge (it will always be the Victoria Bridge to me) light display. I too thought the city did a great job with the fireworks display and there was a really good turn out from city residents. We arrived too late to take in the preceeding entertainment, but I heard that it was very good, as well.
Now for the bridge itself....I was very disappointed. It screams Tacky and Vegas and Midway ride lights to me. I do agree that the lighting at the end of the evening (I believe it was a combination of blue and white) was more tasteful, but overall, I think it has cheapened the look of this historic structure. Perhaps they would have been better to illuminate it much like they have the University and Broadway bridges.
I hate to be a 'negative' responder, as I love to see new ideas and developments...but this one just does not meet the standard.
Also, while down for the fireworks, we wondered over to the Prairie Wind installment. Although I think the impact of this would be far greater if it was higher (even half again as high), it was neat to see people meandering around and through the installation. Up close, it is a bit more interesting then from afar.
And finally, I sure hope the whitewater park proposal continues to gain steam. There have been a number of negative comments on it, but I heard the the general tone from the first public input meeting was quite supportive.
