it's silly because chicago does not equal new york. it's kinda like saying why should i eat a steak when i can get a hot dog for a fraction of the price? they're both incredibly delicious, but they're two entirely different foods. if you like what chicago offers at the price point it's at, then by all means move here, it's a fantastic city in my opinion, but it's not a NYC substitute, chicago is a different animal altogether. sure, it has some of the same trappings as manhattan being a big old city and all, but it is not a manhattan parallel.
