John F. Kennedy International Airport is the home of Delta Air Lines, JetBlue Airways, and American Airlines today, while also hosting almost every large foreign carrier that you can possibly think of. Go back 50 years, however, and the apron looks very different, as it instead becomes an airfield dominated by Pan Am Clippers. New York was the largest hub for Pan American World Airways, which was the de facto flagship carrier of the United States and a cultural icon of intercontinental travel in the 20th century.
