Greater LA is at ~17.5 million vs DFW at ~8.5 million. Assuming LA just straight up doesn't grow anymore while DFW continues growing consistently at 1 million/decade for the next several decades, without any slowdown, it will take DFW 9 decades of continued growth to surpass LA. Of course, you know very well extrapolating that far out is meaningless.
