That’s it ER. Because of the very long relationship to UCLA and Westwood in general, I’ve had to wonder if that site was the inspiration for the fantasy Pop’s Paradise Cafe in Floyd Mutrux’s There Goes My Baby (1991, but released later). Mutrux has a tie-in to Two-Lane Blacktop’s script, which itself originates in another earlier one based on a 1968 road trip. But I’ve found no evidence that Mutrux had been in the Los Angeles area at the time that the drive-in was still operating. (Photos of the modernized service area have been long mis-identified as Tiny Naylor’s on Sunset.)
