The RM and province keep parceling out land right there too for industrial development. It gets worse and worse further and further way from solving the issues with the TCH because there's no space to work with.
BTW the roundabout style interchanges they built at the west end of the Portage By Pass are brutal. Jack-knifed semis there all winter. Better than the semis crashing into the bridge I guess.
I don't think our drivers are up to handling a roundabout interchange, particularly in winter driving conditions. Nobody knows how to drive without speeding or slamming on the brakes.

Roundabouts are great when used properly. It's just that lots of drivers don't use it properly, which is where the safety concerns come in.
But maybe they could just use traffic lights for the ramps for the Interchange. But I feel like my design with the intersections linking to the service roads would use up less land as it would just connect to the frontage roads beside the Highway already there.
