Always remember that the LFP is an extension of the National Post. Its clientele tend to be more intolerant, conspiratorial, older, right-wing, and angry. Many have strong opinions on matters they have little actual knowledge of. Many spend far too much time alone, inside, online with social media (and an online reader opinion section of a news service qualifies as such) cooking up theories about why everything is terrible, why those in society who are in authority/expertise are idiots/corrupt, and why if they just did (fill in the blank) everything would be better like in the past.

This is in keeping with the primary mission of the National Post - which is openly campaign in support of conservative politics - and attack all others. Part of that strategy is to paint an ongoing scenario first put forward by Poiliverie on his first day in parliament as opposition leader: everything is broken (and by extension only he and the conservatives can save the nation). So, the Free Press spends inordinate attention on very negative stories such as crime reporting, any possible dysfunction in local govt/organizations, etc. It also paints situations far worse in their headlines than is actually true. Example: one of today's headlines read Looking for a London-area job? It's getting harder, new figures show. This is the sort of thing that people such as Mr.Lonc just lap up and reinforces his and similar folks' notions. They will however wilfully ignore a detail that LFP intentionally buried in the bottom of the story of a quote from someone actually knowledgeable on the matter: She said that while there are fewer job openings in the region, there’s still a healthy number of positions available considering the uncertainty the trade war with the U.S. has created. “There’s still activity happening, and we’re not seeing as much impact as we’re seeing in other regions"
