I don't think Toronto and decent transit should be in the same sentence.

We may get a tram running along the northern edge one day. Maybe.

Would be nice to get a 10 minute frequency bus line between Pimisi and Terrace de la Chaudiere once the current u/c buildings are complete.

I know I dream in technicolor but it would be nice to start running a downtown loop bus every 10 minutes (including in the evenings and on weekends) between Zibi and the Byward Market as a precursor to the tramway loop.

Are we going to get bars, restaurants and patios at Zibi? It is such a beautiful location and it will be a shame if it is mostly residential with a few businesses to only serve the locals.

Lots of retail bays currently avaliable and planned, but no bites yet. Hopefully when residential starts showing up on the island. Can't wait until the first cafe opens, I go by to enjoy the island parks pretty much every day.

Yup, the point of Zibi is to be a place to eat work play and be very hip. They're hoping to plan around having cafes/bars and embrace patios with the waterfront. If there's anyone to trust with connecting the island with strong waterfront, it's Zibi.

I went to a showing to one of the Ottawa side condos back in like 2018, and they very much tried to sell us on the waterfront and living on an island, so it's definitely in their focus.

Looks good. The new version seems to have more glass and less black/white (thank god). The previous version looked like ArtHaus copy/paste

Very interesting that blocks 209 and 213 have heights here. It's looking like the whole project will have a fantastic variety of building forms and heights, a mini skyline in it's own right.

Much improved design. Exciting to see this area build up with such a variety of designs and heights, as Harley613 mentioned. It will go a long way in connecting the skylines and urban fabric of Ottawa and Hull, along with LeBreton Flats.

If you build it they will come... but the 6 months of winter really ruin the patio and outdoor buzz! I am hopeful for this jewel!

They could also have the patios as convertible in the sense they can still be winter ready with heating but clear views of the river during the winter. A bold idea, but it could work.

Soil remediation on Victoria Island is finally kicking into high gear. Does anyone know what the plan for the island is after the remediation is finished? All park, or some development?

Looking forward to seeing blocks 206 and 204 rise and finally seeing some height at Zibi.

I wonder if Zibi will try to squeeze out even larger heights on the remaining lots they will have. Would be very interesting if they somehow were able to get approval for a 30F or 35F building. That plus Lebreton would really make the skyline POP!

lol, did they just cram a same-height table top RLA masterpiece right into the middle of Zibi? Nobody tell Harley.

...one of blocks 204 and 206 should have been *gasp* at least 90-100m to create an actual skyline profile/peak.

I sure hope not. They still have a ton of space on the Quebec side and filling it with towers will take decades.

Neuf actually. Of course, Neuf and RLA are pretty much the same at this point.

Would like to see that kind of height at the corner of Eddy and Laurier + Laurier and Laval.

From their current Gatineau master plan, the Eddy/Laurier corner is their 2nd tallest building (on that side of the river) at 75m, with a 99m building at the Portage/Laurier corner. However, they've already easily doubled the height of block 11, so there's precedent for height increases.

The Laurier/Laval corner is unfortunately only planned to only have ~30m buildings on both sides.

Somehow forgot about Portage-Laurier. Now that is a good spot for a landmark tower however, unofficial sightlines may prevent that from happening, not that the NCC had an opinion on Place des Peuples.

Don't think they need to fill it with multiple towers. Just one decently sized one. The rest can stay similar but it seems like they're requesting height adjustments on a lot of their projects... so it's not like it's out of the realm of possibility. They already plan to have Zibi take approx 15-20 years to build out since they started back around 2018.
