Road & sidewalk closures in effect during the NHL playoffs
July 24, 2020

A number of road and sidewalk closures will be in effect in the downtown core during the NHL playoffs.

Ice District road and sidewalk closure
The west sidewalk and roadway on 102 Street, from 103 Avenue to 104 Ave. (south of the JW Marriott entrance) will be closed for the NHL playoffs.

101 Street total closure
Beginning July 26, 101 St. will be closed from 102A Ave. to 103 Ave. nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Travel delays may occur during daytime hours, as 101 St. will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Detour using 100 St. or 105 St. The east sidewalk along this route will remain closed.

These closures are in place in an effort to balance the impacts of pedestrians and motorists with the safety and security of the NHL bubble.

We thank the public for their patience as we get ready to welcome NHL officials, personnel and players to Edmonton for the 2020 playoffs.

Nice try but you'll have NHL folks within walking contact of city employees at COE Tower and workers from Bell Tower.

they played like they expected to win while chicago played like they wanted to win. the better team yesterday won yesterday. hopefully the oilers learned a lesson.

In spite of the games being played in Edmonton, we don't have the "home ice advantage" we had before. I think the Oilers have to get over the assumption that local crowds will cheer them on while playing.

When it was first announced the Oilers would be playing Chicago I said to the wife “Oh no, we always lose to them. I doubt the Oilers can beat them.”

Same. The Oilers had a losing record with the Blackhawks this year. But hey it's not over yet...

I’m hoping the leafs get eliminated today or we will never hear the end of it from them. It’s bad enough the flames are advancing.
