Knowing car dealerships, they are most likely rebuilding since it is what car dealerships do every 10 years.

I wouldn't mind something of this for our CCH. This is the Cleveland one at 600 rooms and it is a Marriott. So obviously ours would be nearly twice as many rooms. The balcony you see near the top by the crane, is a bar overlooking Lake Erie.

Maybe to get to the 1,000 - 1,200 rooms for ours they could do something similar to this but in the L shape?

Which would be better, a singular massive New Tallest CC hotel on either the north or south sites, or two 600-room hotels on BOTH lots?

If Cleveland can have a nice-lookin' hotel like that with only 600 rooms, I wonder if two distinctive hotels wouldn't be better than a massive one. Neither would be the new tallest (probably) but if both were unique and competently designed, would that be better for our skyline/development/egos?

Both lots would be nice. I would then say, lets not have them both 600-room hotels and make one 800, then the other 1200.

I think so. We have so many vacant lots. As long as we can get some decent height, cool design, and good street activity, I'm good with it.

For conventions and events, a single large hotel would be better than 2. Larger conventions want to book as much in a single hotel. This is why the 1,000+ rooms keeps getting mentioned.

Outdoor Retailer uses the most rooms for their conventions. They will generally fill all the hotels in SL County, Davis and Northern Utah County. They also have bookings in Summit County. These hotels do include the ski resorts in the Cottonwood Canyons as well.

Even with 1,000 - 1,600 rooms in the CCH, this wouldn't reduce the occupancy during their events as it would allow people to stay longer, rather than come in for a day or 2.

I would be fine with a 1,000 - 1,200 room CCH on either the North or South site and then a 600 - 900 room hotel at APS. This would give SLC a large CCH as well as a second large hotel in direct proximity to the Convention Center.

APS will happen and will probably move fairly quick once the CCH has started construction. There is demand for it now and the CCH will compound that demand with new meetings and conventions. We do know that they have done preliminary designs for the APS site. Both with and without being the CCH location.

It wouldn't surprise me to have 5 hotels under construction/ground breaking by the end of the year.

1. CCH
2. Regent Street Hotel
3. Void (VCC)
4. AC by Marriott
5. APS

We still don't know the location of the AC by Marriot, correct?

Is this the parking lot that the Trolley skybridge connects to?

I've always felt that Trolley Sq. was underdeveloped and that that parking lot would be perfect for a hotel. This is great news that's way past due for Trolley Square. Now, let's get some more density going along 700 E. and 600 S.

The AC by Marriott location hasn't been publicly announced yet.

Hopefully they will announce the location soon.

One of this pair would be nice imo. Our pink sunsets would really make it sparkle.

The original plans for Trolley Square back in the early 1970's included a mid-rise hotel on the west side of 600 East. They were never able to get it past the early stages of approval as the community kept shooting it down.

Does anyone know when they will make an announcement regarding the selected developer for the CCH? I know they were to review the proposals starting yesterday.

I can see where there would be a problem with 600 East. The parking lot along 600 S. has always been my choice for a hotel. I hope they make the hotel large enough and unique to Trolley Square. I certainly wouldn't want a suburban like hotel in that location, or something like the standard Hyatt House either.

Probably will be suburban-ish.

These towers would look great separated, one on the North side of the convention center and one on the South side.

(sorry about the spelling errors, they were corrected.)

Oh Hell yeah.
Not actually spit up, but split, yes.
Who does that?

I think two 30 story Shilo Inns would be nice.
