As a Gatineau taxpayer, I am appreciative of the desire to keep the project on budget, but am fearful that they still seem committed to tear down the Bob in 3 years without a replacement plan (at present). That would seem to put the city in an unfavourable leverage position, no?

They've configured the Moncton Stadium with some end zone seating, so I figure they can fit about 14,000 in for the game.

Just got my tickets. I lucked out. The ticket agent said sales were going very well, but I just happened to arrive at the office as they were releasing some seats reserved for the media. As such, I got prime seats in the west bleachers, protected from the elements by the roof.

In 2007 I believe Ottawa, Toronto, and Montreal had the most consistent attendance and highest ticket sales during the group stages. I remember reading about how Ottawa was surprising as almost every game was 80% full.

I can see Moncton doing well as this is a big time event for the City to get behind. Surprisingly Edmonton didn't sell that well for U-20s, its not hard to assume aside from Canada group packages the rest of the games won't do as well this time around.

I am a firm believer that if people are coming from abroad to watch they will gravitate towards the most accessible centers. Ottawa has a well served far reaching airport and you could get from Montreal to Ottawa if needed very efficiently. Somebody going to Vancouver would likely just stay there up until the finals or it will be locals and newcomer Canadians filling up BC Place. Edmonton and Winnipeg are a distance from other centers and it won't be surprising as because of this they have lower attendance numbers.

Winnipeg actually has one of the strongest sales out of all cities. Of course part of that has to do with hosting 2 USA games.

Ordinarily I'd agree with you but the group that Winnipeg got has already had a significant effect on attendance. We have the USA in our group, and there is actually a huge number of Americans coming up for the game... to the point where every hotel room within an hour of Winnipeg is reportedly booked for the tournament. It's basically like the Grey Cup and then some in terms of guests coming for the event.

Pretty sure the USA games are sold out (33,000), although how sales are going for the other games, I have no idea.

I'll take your word for it. I didn't know USA got seeded in Winnipeg which makes a lot of sense. I was talking mostly for the international folks who would be hoping on a plane versus driving up.

Ya i agree. Shouldve gone with the same dark green seats they used in the lower level.

A few days ago I looked at ticketmaster. Assuming all the grayed out seats are sold it looks like the third doubleheader will have a little over 20,000 while the single game will have 17,000 - 20,000. Decent considering the horrible start times.

Last time I saw a game at Commonwealth, I was about fifteen rows up.

Capacity could go as high as 54 000 depending on where cameras are positioned as well as how many media spots they need.

Also encouraging is that on Monday 885 000 tickets had been sold, but as of yesterday that number jumped to 910 000. So sales seem to be picking up. No doubt once knockout round games are set fans of those teams will buy tickets to those games.

True, but sadly that's because you guys are the only ones that really care. Yes there are some pockets of fans in Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg and maybe Hamilton but definitely not to the extent where they plan road trips to other stadiums.

Hamilton fans travel in the thousands to Rogers Centre.

Proximity is a lot closer but they do plan "road trips" to another stadium.
