New Zealand is very temperate. It does not see the extremes in weather variations as Toronto would.
The F. Barr Stadium is more a covered event space versus a Stadium like the "glass" Crystal Cathedral in California. You can get away with it in more temperate climates that have predictable climate patterns. In that part of New Zealand it is 5-15 degrees all year long.
Those types of structures can work will in those climates. The closest we would have hear would be Vancouver and Victoria in which those structure would perform on a optimal level. In a place like Toronto is isn't that easy because it gets hot here in the summer with very strong sun, while our winters are below (or at) freezing for the majority of the season.
