The LRT station is right there in the picture!!!

There are two LRT stations at the University. University Station and Brentwood Station.

Here's another nice shot from workabove...

Three when you consider that McMahon Stadium is owned by the University, although Brentwood serves the University Research Park more than the University proper.

Not sure, but GernB could be referring to the original plan to have the LRT run right through the campus and have a station under Mac Hall.

Someone from Winnipeg mentioned that this is more of a western Canadian phenomenon. Schools in the east tend to have large on campus populations. In smaller cities/towns, I'd say most of the student body lives on campus. Acadia, Bishops, Mt. Allison, etc. Even at bigger schools in bigger cities like Saint Mary's, about half the student body live on campus.

This goes a long way in explaining why campus life is far more developed out east. Things like fraternities/sororities are more prevalent and attendance at varsity sports noticeably higher.

Where I work (UWO) the university guarantees residency to any 1st year student accepted. The place is a never-ending expansion of residential halls. Compared to my alma mater (Concordia) which had a piddling 131 places (Hingston Hall).

I'll take Calgary or Toronto over Vancouver if it's just buildings/skyline like it is in that photo. If it's about setting, then yes, Vancouver wins hands down, and without a single doubt.

Is that a joke about how Chinese Vancouver is? (Republic of China RoC.)

(Rest of Canada RoC doesn't make any sense unless you define what it's the rest vs. as the term gets used all the time for Toronto and Quebec and fairly often for every other part of the country.)

I've heard the term ROC a billion times (but then I am from Quebec), but never outside of media have I heard the word "hoser" (which apparently is as Canadian as Maple Syrup and Calgary Stampede threads).

He means his favorite skylines are Montreal and Quebec City, so Vancouver is his favorite in the ROC outside of Quebec.

I actually just used the word hoser for the first time ever on Friday night. I don't know why, and I don't remember the context Just Canadian autopilot I guess!

I thought that ROC automatically referred to everything outside the Golden Horseshoe unless specifically stated otherwise.

It's more common with Quebec I think, but is used a whole tonne elsewhere.
