Rocket252, yes its being reported by Brad Fergeson that the route is cancelled for the winter. Let's verify.

Second, this is not due to the article about Calgary yesterday as those flights were for the summer, and the route is still scheduled.

And this is why I will not travel with these f's, man the hate AC has for YEG is unreal. There is just no way that the LHR route is not full and making them money, FUAC!!

Let's make some noise. Don't get me wrong by stating that this isn't due to the article I posted yesterday. EIA what is your next move? We need International service year round to Euroupe we are not a tier III city.

I hope EIA isn't going to rely on the fact the AC is probably saying this is a one year adjustment because they are short on 767's.

No transborder flights - no sun flights - and now no winter international flights.

Why not just leave the Edmonton market completely and let us find partners that will service this city properly?

Maybe British Airways will take the route.

Y'know, I had had pretty well only good experiences with Air Canada throughout my life, but this is making it pretty easy to choose other airlines. What a stupid decision.

WestJet, United and IcelandAir will be getting my business going forward.

Time to look at a new rewards program, since Aeroplan is only with AirCanada.

Looking at the flight schedule it is the same schedule as last year? 3x weekly. Where is Brad getting information that it is cancelled?

I'm seeing 3x week for the winter still. I think he is thinking it's going from daily to 3x week? I think he's forgetting about the seasonal adjustment...

And if they are, BA will be all over it. Pretty big loads on that flight.

^ Yup, still showing up 3x per week.

I know that it used to be 4x per week over the winter a few years ago. But really, what justifies the cuts down to 3 especially that YEG continues to grow.

So they funnel passengers down to YYC, so that YYC can keep their daily and can still compete with BA. Dumb strategy!!

Come on AC...stick with your main hubs in YYZ and YUL. We will be happy to support BA anytime.

Brad Ferguson is a reliable source but CHED reported it as a loss of service not a reduction of service.

The Journal has a an article of speculation now, and has gone to travel agents for answers. Not the right source.

Especially when this is a quote:“And although we have the Icelandic air flight which is perhaps an option, it’s a 757 and its not a Star Alliance partner so definitely wouldn’t work for business travellers.”

Ugh, I just talked to a AC higher up in Montreal (yes I called). YEG-LHR is not being cancelled. Downgauged for the winter to 3x week (at least to her knowledge). And if it is being dropped I can assure you IF will increase it's planned service and BA would likely either launch YEG or tag YEG into the YYC flight. Loads on the flight are in the 80% to full range, no one will ignore that.

And the travel agent or who ever made the comment about IF needs a slap back to reality. That lack of airline knowledge is what kills me. Hopefully whoever the new icelandair regional sales person is will be heading to the travel agencies to educate some of these morons.

Man oh man.

P.S "travel agent" it's ICELANDAIR, not ICELANDICAIR... Education starts somewhere.

Travel Agents are the worst. EIA should have an education session with them to set the record straight.
