I think age has a big part to play in things like this. Nowadays they are pushing metric more consistently in school.

When it comes to trades everything is all over the place both imperial and metric. (Most trades people in practice still use imperial).

Imperial seems easier to relate to but metric makes easier sense when dealing with numbers.

Where you live can play a big part as well. For example in Windsor many people I know will read the weather temperature or sometimes the thermostats in their house in Fahrenheit.

Yea I use metric whenever possible. I just wish something could be done to rid us of imperial forever though. ( maybe mandate that all official documents be in metric, I.e. architectural drawings and news articles)

Most people in my business still use imperial. Homes are almost always referred to in SQ FT, 99% of clients I deal with have no clue about SQ M. All new home builders in Ontario release their models in sq ft only. People never refer to their weight in KG's, not even young people. It's exclusively in pounds. So it's a mix really all across Canada depending on what conversation you are having.

That is it exactly. The business world is still very imperial, much of which still works its way into casual converstation regardless of what schools teach. Maybe the age dependency has more to do with the longer you are out of school, the less you think metric is exclusive.

I think we're all guilty of wanting to know what Fahrenheit we reach on our hottest days in the summer. When it reaches 36 plus humidity here in Toronto everybody likes to know it feels like 104 F in the shade.

104 F is actually 40 C.

I said 36 plus humidity would feel like 104 or more.

Never thought this once. Farenheit is beyond stupid.

Only time I ever use farenheit is cooking and pool temperature.

Same here! Until I had a job that required me to converse with people in the US (including some occasional small talk), I never even thought of Fahrenheit, and had no idea how it compared except I knew 32 was freezing from I think my mother or grandmother telling me once since they used it growing up.

Really? So you've never once heard the news report this? Because each summer they do. How is that less intelligent then using it to measure the temperature of a pool? I'm not sure how converting one method of measurement to another out of curiosity is "beyond stupid".

Whenever I've watched the news it's been in Celsius.

And I said Fahrenheit itself as a scale is stupid, not doing conversions.

Haha sorry, I'd certainly share if I could.

Needless to say some very cool architecturally interesting projects coming for the area.

Unfortunately a project designed by BIG is likely not happening now, which is a shame as it was very cool. Maybe one day I will be able to post the renderings.

what ever happened to the BIG project in Toronto? It seemed imminent 6 months ago, but nothing has popped up.

It's still on track, no hurry on it though.

I'm personally surprised no design pics have leaked yet, usually someone blows it by now.

There's an even bigger project than the ones we've already seen? Or is big just a name?
