Nice views

The views from the Centre Square tower will be great when its complete. These facebook photos show the current view from the 4th floor. Imagine when they get up to the 10th / 11th floors.

I know. It was a simple typo, not that I didn't know better.

If the plaza is going to open to traffic, graders unfortunately are going to probably be the quicker option to clear it. I guess this question is better put to the city.

Great pics!

From working with this city this summer, the plaza is covered by the parks dept and they tend to use trucks with plows on the front to clear snow off paths, etc. So i would assume they will use this method, with yeah maybe a sweeper of some sort. Some reflectors did break this summer to tho, just a maintaince thing maybe

Bobcats

If I remember correctly they used bobcat type machines with a front bucket with a big plastic guard on the blade when they were clearing snow off the plaza last winter.

Any updates on the Agriculture Place timeline? Was looking at FCC's current footprint downtown - 76,000sqft in FCC Tower + 50,000sqft split between Conexus & Century Plaza. Presumably, Agriculture Place would consolidate the Conexus & Century Plaza staff, so that FCC has all head office staff in Regina in one office complex.

Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada is vacating 4 floors of FCC Tower (heading to Tower III) giving FCC access to the former AAFC space - so we're looking at a building at least 35-40,000sqft in size, right? Could the site accomodate a bigger building (are they knocking down the Green Spot's building, or are they just sticking to space to the south of the current tower?)

There will be an espresso bar/cafe opening in Canterbury Common. Their Facebook Page says they should be open around the 20th.

I asked the city what the plan is for clearing the plaza now that it's going to be a traffic bearing street. Their reply: The majority of the snow removal work on the plaza will be done with equipment that will take the lane markers into consideration. If a large snow fall happens that requires removal of the snow, the equipment blades will be kept at a certain height to remove the majority of the snow. Other equipment will be brought into clear closer to the pavement.

The owner has horrendous grammar.

Nice spot for a cafe though!

Regina's 2012 housing starts through Sept. (2220) continue to blow the doors off a very strong 2011 (1140):

In Regina, the six-month moving average of the monthly SAAR of total housing starts was 2,849 units in September The stand-alone monthly SAAR was 3,318 units in September, compared to 2,908 in August.
Regina’s single-detached starts in September totalled 172 units, up from 80 units a year earlier. After nine months, single-detached starts reached 1,033 units, compared to 690 during the same period in 2011. Multi-family starts, which include semi-detached units, rows, and apartments, totalled 112 units last month, 13 per cent higher than September 2011. To the end of September, 1,187 multi-family units were started compared to 450 in 2011.

...from CMHC

To put htis in perspective, in 2009 we had under 1000 starts for the whole year.

That rocks, Regina! So what is happening with the major office tower on Rose? Is it still active or what? Looks to me like Agriculture Place will be up and running before that one gets started.

Not sure where they are with that (the developer still has it listed as an 'upcoming project' on its website) but at the city council meeting tonight they were discussing a new office building on Rose. Something about some of the parking spots being smaller than normal. I assume it was that one, the only other new office building I know of on Rose is the new SARM building which I don't think is that far along. Maybe someone who actually watched the council meeting has more info? I usually just read the highlights on Twitter (thanks Patrick Book!)

It would be nice if it was taller than 4 storeys. There is very little room left in the Transition area for infill.
