I suck at using the search function... can anyone point me in the direction of what's going up in the 8500 block of jasper ave? sizable crane, decent sized foundation...

Well this isn't that rink, but it's still pretty important

Hoping to be open by Sunday... has not been ideal rink building conditions these past few weeks

Great to see positive things happening at the Aviation Museum. The Starfighter is a great addition. Now if only they had a nice new building instead of that junky old hanger.

You are joking right? It needs some love, but is one of three beautiful historic hangers.

Well, if by "needs some love" you mean it needs to be two or three times larger to accommodate what I'd like to see the museum eventually become then yes. I'd like to see the museum eventually become world class and the current location just isn't sufficient for that. Maybe it could someday be converted into an interpretive centre/theatre/giftshop/cafeteria/etc. Even then, though, it needs a lot of work.

Side note, some of the funding for this ^^ and other projects came from private donations and personal legacy bequests. I plan to bequeath a nice sum to the Alberta Aviation Museum when I croak, and although we're all relatively young it's never too early to start thinking about some of the things you would like to support by making donations in your wills (i.e. don't leave it all to our spoiled brat children). Turning E-town into a world-class city and a tourist destination takes a lot of people making contributions in whatever way they can.

I know this isn't construction related, but I wasn't sure where else to post it. Does anyone know if Candy Cane Lane has "hours"? When do people start turning off their lights on a weeknight?

Apparently, the Mayfair project may be scaled back with Mayfair North only being 7 or so storeys high (I think that is roughly half the height originally planned). Supposedly, it has to do with high construction and property tax costs.

Just saw the proposed Hilton rendering for the quarters... 250 rooms and quite large. Looks very jetson modern.

Cmd says he loves it
