Or even better, running east along Chicago Avenue until a couple of blocks before the lake, and then turning south through Streeterville, Lakeshore East, and down the south lakefront to Hyde Park, which I think would spur massive development between McCormick Place and Hyde Park.

I think the next decade or so will really make or break whether Chicago reaches the next level as a city, and transit will be the key. Most important is fixing the existing system to make it faster and more reliable. Next is expanding it to make areas beyond the Loop easier to get to from someplace other than the north lakefront. This is turn would lead to less required parking and hideous podiums on new construction, and make Chicago as pedestrian friendly as New York or European cities.
I agree with you 90 percent, but the 10% is only for nit-picky reasons. I'd say a sub under grand would be best, and I don't really think chicago is pedestrian UN-friendly.

There might be a better thread for this if you want to discuss

Wow? Seriously? They really are cooking along on this one. I like that design too, cant wait to see what the yellow zigzag is going to look like. Also, I wonder what material the black parts of the design are.

Nothing fancy, just wanted to see what the new McClurg proposal would look like, along with the other things I'd added in.

Didn't mean to slight your project. I was thinking in terms of a single tower...

I don't have any renderings yet, but I have a photo of the massing model and a few details:

-There will be 2 towers, both rental (as of now).

-They will built in phases like The Streeter and Streeter Place

-The east tower along McClurg will be 695' and have approximately 370 units and the west tower along Erie will be 625' and have approximately 387 units. These numbers are subject to change.

-Mixed use office space (211,000 sq fet on 7 levels) will screen all the parking.

-There will be an approximately 7,000 sq ft. pocket park on the corner of McClurg and Erie.

-The buildings will also have a 45' high arcaded space along the base similar to the old Time Life Building

When I get more details,I'll post them.

Looks promising. Like the skinniness of the towers. I guess after losing the block 37 residential towers, this project will probably be pushed up as their next major endeavor...

What is the tower on the far right, just to the left of Sears? Waterview? Wolf Point? Something closer?

That's just a rough massing of Elysian. Location might be off by a few pixels either way, but height should be right.
Wolf Point might be out of the shot to the right. Waterview is behind 900 N Michigan.

What are they making a show on? Skyscraper construction? Chicago Architecture? The weather?

Today is probably it. Major fleet of concrete mixers spotted in the Randolph / Wacker / Franklin / Washington area.
