Still, something about how this one is laid out (and the fact that they've fit so many goods and shelving in their smaller space) made it feel more tight.
But then again, it might just have been an aspect of opening day, and it was crowded throughout most of the day with office workers from all over wanting to check it out.
The lineup in the morning going down the hill on Granville was insane.
Can't be dealing with that.
I do love the vantage viewpoint to the entire intersection and corner and I'm glad they didn't do the typical supermarket thing of stacking shelving against the window wall, but instead leaving a corridor walkway against it where you can walk and see out onto the street. It looks great from up there.
As for the product selection - more or less the same as the other City Market - except....maybe less stuff (because it's smaller), but not like you'll notice.
A great addition for the area, and especially for the people who live in the tower above, who, in a little over a year from now will have both a supermarket and a skytrain station right inside their building.
Hopefully they're far enough from Meinhardt Market farther up on South Granvile and the No Frills on 4th Ave. to not cannibalise most of their current customer-base. (I think the No Frills are far enough and should be fine. The Meinhardt'..... I'm not so sure. And they're the last one, since the downtown location closed down).
