IMO it's a bit premature to weigh 400 LSD in any rankings-- it doesn't have a head yet. Let em cook!

Can we really say these are all part of same development cycle?

400 LSD at least seems to be on it’s own in that respect

From looking at their new video at FITMINDS CHICAGO, i don't think we are going to get the crown as advertised! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyZZ_cS5tZs

You know this how? Seems like you're just making that up- I see nothing that would make someone come to that conclusion at the moment.

^ Yeah if the entire crown were to be made of concrete, sure, I'd agree that it looks different than the renderings. But unless this building is quite different than the last dozen skyscrapers built in this city, its crown will be hollow steel structure, anchored into the top concrete floor, and enclosed with several "stories" of glass. Those glass panels will conceal the BMU (which is being installed right now, you can see its steel core in the video, thanks for the link btw) and the HVAC. So they've got several more apparent stories above the topped-out concrete to finish up the setbacks. It might not be exact to the rendering, but few buildings are.

I mean, the crown is still under construction, it seems to be shaping up to look like this, but it is still a building under construction. I’m pretty sure the building has a bit more height in the crown that it’s going to rise, and that’s going to create the pointy tip of the building

Is that the BMU boom sticking straight up there?

How much of that BMU needs to be above roof height?

Im guessing the parapet will only extend up to the point where the BMU pivots to swing out over the side? If that's the case, the architectural top will be rather blunted compared to the more elongated chiseled-shaped form seen in the older renderings/diagrams.

The BMU mast telescopes vertically on hydraulic actuators. You can see the length of the main cylinder, and the silver inner cylinder!

The BMU boom/jib also telescopes diagonally upward, so it can clear any screening that rises above the top of the unit's maximum height. There are too many unknown variables to make aesthetic judgements yet IMO. Let em cooooook lol

Really hope this one gets a solid crown treatment, otherwise I'm not sure I could forgive them... After the chopping of 30-feet from One Chicago which makes it a bit stubby, and the horrendous black louvers around Vista, I am nervous about about this.

Well, they already got rid of the terracotta. I'm sure this thing cannot get any worse.

Terracotta on a project of this size would have been prohibitively expensive, difficult to maintain properly throughout the annual deep freeze-thaw weather cycle in the city, and is not as versatile a cladding material.

Please tell me why this building requires terracotta so much that you believe it would make it better. I'm genuinely curious to better understand your rationale.
