Definitely frosty this morning in my neighbourhood in the north end. You could see the frost on the rooftops as I drove into work. This is the first morning this fall I could say I saw this.

Weather forecast for Hallowe'en has deteriorated. Melissa is now forecast to track a little further to the west, and feed more moisture into the oncoming weather front. The current prediction is ~50 mm of rain and 70 km/hr winds.

Several years ago Montreal moved trick or treating to the following night due to some real garbage weather Halloween night. We can never take trick or treating for granted. Gotta hope it stays dry and is not too cold because then it really screws up some kids' costumes and they basically have to bundle up to the point of rendering the costume useless. Or you anticipate and buy a much larger size and put it over the layers and layers of clothing.

Been really lucky the last few years lucking out on the weather. Two of the last three for us were very pleasant. Wore tshirts those nights.

Tomorrow we're getting quite a bit of rain. Better then than on Friday. But Friday isn't exactly going to be pleasant either.

Google says this a castor bean plant. It's a zone 9-11 plant that dies back at the first frost. It's close to 10 ft tall so it has had solid growth this season.

Melissa looking like an increasing threat tomorrow night into Saturday morning.

Current track would keep the highest winds offshore, but a more westerly track could be problematic for St. John's.

Looks like we made the switch from early fall to late fall.
5C and rainy today. Absolutely miserable. Just in time for the dreaded time change this weekend. We actually have a bit of break in the precipitation so the temperature has climbed to 8C tonight.

Low of 2C early this morning before the rain came.

The warmspot was a three way tie between Cultus Lake, BC, Upper Stewiacke, NS and Baccaro Point, NS at 16.1C
Warmest low was Sable Island, NS at 12.1C.

In BC the 2 I would keep an eye on is Tofino and Saltspring Island.

Sable Island.
Last year it froze on December 3rd.

Torino froze on November 3rd.
Salt Spring Island has no EC station but it used to have one. Last full year was 1976 and I do see some November freezes.

EC should put a weather station on Pelee Island. From the one personal weather station I found there, the first freeze was November 29 last year and October 31 the year before, so it could be a contender.
