Dinner time ends at 7pm so I imagine the taco will be finished by then.

Hey Armybrat, I remember you from Hornfans way back in the day. Did you live in Japan as a kid ? If I remember you or yoru broke their arm and you were waiting and waiting to see the Dr. you day got tired of awaiting and went and found the doc who was sitting on his butt reading a paper and your dad gave him the motivation to treat you or your brother. That was one of your stories right ??

Most of us only know him as having a cousin who posed for a photo by I-35 and Riverside in the 1950s.

In those pictures I can see those boxes on The Modern finally lit up. I was wanting to see how they looked with lighting.

I think I have seen that photo were I-35 looked deserted and was fun/relaxing to drive around Austin. Alex, I take " Things that will never happen again for a thousand "

Not my story, but I did live in Taipei, Taiwan when my dad was stationed there 1957-59.

That was Cousin Joanne, who unfortunately passed away last year at age 82.
She was from Iowa, but after that 1959 visit she never returned to Austin.

Back then I couldn’t begin to believe what the skyline would look like 65 years later.

Its nice... but its generic. You can find this look along every little creek in Austin. It really should have been built as a destination. There is no room for a large amount of people. I would have liked something looking more like the Riverwalk in San Antonio. Something that brings in the people and has better business to waterway interaction.

There was a proposal about 20 years ago to make it like San Antonio but fizzled away. One problem I see in San Antonio with the Riverwalk is the river is 30 feet below grade with businesses along it but on the street level looks degraded and desolate except near the Alamo. Austin has a great street scene and works better here.

I agree. It doesn’t have to be as nice as the Riverwalk, but something to bring people there. Imagine tubing from Waterloo to the lake. That would be pretty cool IMO. Also, once this is completed how close to the water will new businesses be allowed to be?does the tunnel remove the flood plains completely?
