Hard to say what it will end up looking like based on the comparison of the Andaz render and its actual appearance.

Hopefully it keeps that shape even if the materials end up mid tier.

Looks like they got some inspiration from their time in Florida

Arent there plans to redevelop Dunns (Future Chucks) into an apartment in the future?

Yeah they wouldn’t have included it on the 2025 site plans it it wasn’t part of their plans. Interesting how there are no other details of the design available online despite at least part of project moving forward. But that’s Claridge and the City of Ottawa’s special relationship in a nutshell.

lol, that came from the GLASS manufacturer's website?

And they didn't bother to correct the original Andaz's appearance?

Someone needs to dial down the mirror function on Sketchup and dial up the grey/blue function so we can step back to reality. And throw some mis-matched colours and details in there...

Then again, maybe we just expect too much of today's hyper-realistic renderings...

Disappointing that this block (with Andaz, Andaz extension, this new project and the Moxy) will just become another Superblock of lot line to lot line chunky buildings all around similar heights with no views or breathing room between towers.

Yup. Just another Rideau canyon. Adding to the Eastern Block. No one has learned from it. You'd think we'd have higher standards for the ByWard Market.

More of a pit than a canyon.

And for all those who are confused by what's being actively built right now, it's just a four-level underground parking garage, which will be shared by all the above-ground uses located on the subject site (137 George St, 141 George St, 110 York St, and 116 York St).

More or less at grade!

*Edit.. although now that I look really closely, I feel like I see quite a bit of shoring wall on the far side. And no rebar. Hmm.

Looking back on post #160 you can also see the north side of the parking structure is like half a level behind.

Well either way. Rebar at street level good.

I just found a renewed appreciation for my relatively recently acquired 4k panel. That is some fantastic footage in the first minute and change.

Tabletop aside the density in this area is becoming obvious. I remember when East Market went up and that felt like huge deal as it was the only build I can recall around there in my lifetime up until that point.

We've come a long way, for better (density) or worse (horrible architecture and urbanism). It was at the time just East Market, the St. George (built in 1987, a pioneer for the area) and the Quality Inn.

Claridge seems to have realized the errors of their ways and given us what could be a decent looking building that leaves room to breath all around.
