Like others have speculated, I feel Carney's avoidance of the media may come back to haunt him.

Just seeing how he responded to both the Globe and CBC yesterday shows he might have a hard time in interviews when he gets pressed. Compared to the Freeland campaign, Carney has done very minimal interviews and press. All we got from him so far are little scrums and a single press conference.

I hope the media bring this to light when the campaign officially launches next week. I'm certain Carney's camp is rigorously trying to train Carney on how to respond in these situations going forward, because quite frankly, how he reacted overshadowed whatever photo-ops he did in Europe.

We might also see Poilievre pushing for more than one english debate. Carney, like Trudeau in 2021, will likely steer clear from that.

The argument is fair but it's a bit silly as well; any elected official with so much as a mutual fund or an index-tracking ETF could be said to have conflicts. I think it's fair for the press to ask questions, but I also understand Carney's likely bind: if he discloses his (probably extensive) assets, he's just opening them up to be combed over so people can say "ah ah!" and speculate on how this investment or that might be problematic. There is a slight witch-hunty vibe and I understand why it's frustrating because frankly I think it's mostly a sideshow.

All that said: Carney has to get better at gracefully addressing stuff like this.

Really the problem with the blind trust arises when you have a lot of wealth from one employer. Paul Martin's blind trust probably didn't sell off his closely held assets either.

Yes I don't blame him for not answering. He should do it as a joke. Well it's a blind trust so obviously I can't know what's in it. He tried that line but less efficetely than he could.

I wouldn't be too concerned about how he comes across on camera, I mean he's running against a very unlikable on-camera person. So one cancels out the other in this case.

I'm sure people have mentally chosen to back the horse that will be the best option in the current race. This is why the NDP and Conservatives have been hemorrhaging supporters as people leave their preferred party to back the best option to take on Trump. There is a time and place for the NDP, now is not that time, and the leader of the Conservatives has been trying his best to make his party more like MAGA right up until this year. He can only blame himself for all of his Maple MAGA actions over the past few years. he's shown us he can't be trusted with his views on Frump.

I'd love the conservative party just for once to elect a leader that's not so strange and creepy.

For those questioning the presence of Zelensky at the G7 meeting, why? He was in Japan for the 2023 G7 meeting and Italy in 2024. Given the prominence of the Ukraine war, it would be odd not to have him attend.

As Rosemary posted - she has an open invitation for CPC members to be interviewed or to participate on her show - but they won't.

Avoidance of the media? Pierre does 3 questions from the sources he picks. He then rages on them and asks how they are funded. He gaslights and never answers the questions.

Pierre avoided leadership debates during his CPC run so he has a track record of not wanting to debate. He is not a good speaker if he is off script and doesn't have a slogan to hide behind.

This actually makes me hopeful. Good responses. I feel like Canada can come out the other side of this stronger and more independent with much stronger social and economic ties with Europe and the world. His announcement to partner with Australia on arctic radar systems is great too. The perfect moment for a long term big thinker.

Just watched a clip of Carney being asked by the media in Nunavut about what he expects to happen with his call with Trump.

Not good.

PP has done numerous interviews on news channels, CP24 being one of them. We will see if he does these types of interviews on the campaign trail.

Pierre can speak without slogans, but the CPC found slogans to be an effective means of getting their message across.

An example, when they talk about "AXE THE TAX", they not only talk about the Carbon Tax, but also the GST on purchasing homes. Another is "BUILD THE HOMES", the slogan represents their plan to increase housing builds.

The CPC won't stop slogans because contrary to what people think, they are a fairly effective PR tool. That's why we're starting to see the NDP and LPC use them as well, such as "DENTAL CARE FOR ALL".

Wow...so Jagmeet Singh and Mark Carney happened to be in Iqaluit at the same time. What are the odds?!

Not even close. Meeting Macron, and the UK leader, forming more ties and friendships with the EU, while inviting Zelenskyy to the G7 is exactly what a great leader does. He needs to work on his interviewing skills, but most Canadians can forgive him, considering he just dipped his feet in the political waters.

The main issue, is how Poilievre can come across as likeable, and he keeps blowing it. It does not help that team Maple MAGA is going after Carney's daughter, and MAGA podcaster Joe Rogan is once again brining up Carney in a negative light, while endorsing him, is NOT helping.

The question remains though. Where the heck was Rosie's professionalism
for the last ten years? She seems to be in the mourning phase now that Trudeau is gone. I wonder How many other Mid career ladies are feeling the same.

One of Poilievre’s downfalls will be the liberal talking point of “Maple MAGA”. No CPC candidate has made any comment regarding Carney’s daughter… most of that talk has come from American trump influencers. It unfortunately gets associated with the CPC because those said influencers endorse PP.

Unfortunately for PP, the liberals are able to get away with “Maple MAGA” as long as Trump keeps lots of rhetoric and American MAGA influencers do stupid crap, like we’re seeing.

What are the NDP and Libs up to?

Are they planning tactical withdrawal of candidates in ridings like the Left did in France's last election?

Pierre Poilievre. He's just like Erin O'Toole.

The devil is in the details with both polls and outcomes.

If the Liberals get their majority {who would imagined me saying this even 2 months ago} and they hold these projections it will be VERY healthy for the nation. As it stands, every province will get a Liberal seat and, most importantly, they could get potentially 10 in Alberta. A strong Alberta vote gives them influence and a cabinet seat. They will not feel that in such dire times that their views are not considered in Ottawa and shows national unity which Canada must have if we are to effectively stand up to Trump. A Liberal gov't with no but meaningful {or any at all} representation from Alberta, along with Smith at the helm provincially could put our federation in danger.

An interesting demographic change has been in the under 30 voters. One of the most unique changes over the last 2 years was how the youth were fleeing the Liberal for the Tories and now that has swung back at a shocking rate.

If polls hold, the CPC will lose,

but the NDP will be... obliterated.

Singh shot himself in the foot, and in turn will take down the party. They were even on track to have more seats than the liberals prior to Trudeau stepping down.

half the seats in Manitoba being Liberal would be what Trudeau got in his majority...no NDP at all would be unprecedented.
