Sam Rappaport a was never developer per se as far as I can recall. He was, though, very negatively impactful as a real estate speculator and notorious commercial slumlord who owned huge swaths of Center City for many years.

Yup, still a parking lot....Always thought it would be a good space for the 76ers arena but I'm speculating that Jefferson wants it, eventually.

As this goes back to the ZBA next month, the 4th Zoning Permit issued today in the last 2 years noticeably seems to be going back & forth with the wording, as it now includes the consolidation of 512-520 Broad Street (which I thought The Goldenberg Group owned) at Broad & South.

However, the 2nd Zoning Permit (ZP-2022-012487) issued back on Nov. 14, 2022 also included said lot. the 3rd zoning Permit did not have this lot included, so I'm confused. Do they have another tower planned or is this simply a typo? Sure would be lovely if it's the former

This appeal was supposed to be heard at the ZBA today, anyone have an update on what happened?

I just watched the meeting (which isn't listed, but you can change the link of another NOV video to 19), and they said the case was withdrawn. Not sure what to make of that

Actually it looks like you're right. The PDF of the permit even includes a drawing explicitly around both properties with the owners listed. Here's even the name of the client listing the full new address


I'm guessing the first application was withdrawn because some new plans are happening behind the scenes

We'd seen an original proposal for the site of a Virgin Hotel along with some other highrise. Could we be going back to that?

Just south of Health building. I forgot the city sent out an RFP in 2017 and somehow chose Goldenberg...

The city put the health center property up for sale and issued a request for qualifications in 2017 and selected Goldenberg Group over Dranoff Properties, Scannapieco Development Corp., LCOR and Linden Lane Capital Partners.

How the hell does Goldenberg win ANY RFP ever?!

They are a vaporware con job that is one of the most detrimental "developers" in this city. They pull the plug on anything they start and they sit on "won" projects until they sell their interests. And they do it all the time.

Mayor Parker needs to make things harder for these scumbags, not easier. Disgusting.

+1. We need a vacant property tax (a surface parking lot counts as vacant, sorry!) to force their hand at 8th and Market. It is inexcusable that that lot has not been developed during any of the booms over the last few years.

If they're really not ready to build, make it a public park. Developers shouldn't be allowed to sit on lots that valuable waiting for nothing.
