That's assuming you'll be able to get through the McDonald's Drive-Thru line that will almost certainly paralyze that entire area.

From the looks of it, i don't think this McDonald's will have a Drive-thru.

At the same time, it's kind of nice (?) seeing a suburban retail centre with so little parking. Usually, we have a ridiculous excess.

The apartment building has a website - Latti Apartments:

https://lattiappartements.ca/

Saw the frame is going up for the grocery store now.

And yes, that McDonald's looks like it will have a drive thru (along the rue Seto side).

What could the grocery store be aside from Adonis I wonder? I just drove by and there is more trim installed, it's certainly starting to look like an Adonis..

I thought it was another IGA.

If it is.. it is making my usual IGA on Colline look like dog poop.

I can't imagine 2 IGA's in the same neighbourhood exactly 2.64kms from each other. Their franchise license with Sobey's likely includes a non-compete clause with a decent distance on it.

So Metro? Two stores one next to the other. They could be strategic in which each store carries to minimize competition.

Not sure if it's a trend but my area of Gatineau has 2 IGAs and 2 Metros close to each other.

The IGAs are at Gréber and St-René and the Metros are at Gréber and La Vérendrye and Montée Paiement and La Vérendrye.

I drive by this every day. The wooden pillars mean they mean business. Not some Super C stuff.

I thought I read on this very thread this was supposed to be an IGA.

I'm sitting in front of the site right now and there is a Premiere Moison opening right next to the grocery store (but not attached, across the road running in front. Premiere Moison is owned by Metro, the owner of Adonis, and they are colocated at the Maloney Adonis.

Spoke to some workers on site, it is 100% an IGA. Damn. I would have loved an Adonis in the area, IGA is ridiculously overpriced, I would never choose to shop there with all the other options in the neighborhood.

There are plans and renders in the document I posted earlier.

McDonald's drive through:

IGA

Looks a lot like recent IGAs, eg. one that opened in 2021 in Vaudreuil:

I presume that such a high store density in the area will allow them to push even more Rachelle Berry and eventually asphyxiate la Boîte à grain (a relatively successful local competitor).

The traffic for that short drive-thru lane at McDonald's is going to be ridiculous.
The Plateau McDonald's is often a mess, and this location will have less parking / run up to the drive-thru.

The parking lot for this area is going to be one hell of a mess. Pretty sure they will put lights or something at that McDonald's corner after complaints.

Katimavik is supposed to be extended to Allumettières.. I hope it is just a one-way exit WB (coming from Hull). If they put a full intersection there it will compound the traffic issue at Vanier.

Crazy that Katimavik will be a major road soon, and has had a lot of apartments for years, yet it still doesn't have street lights. That's the darkest street in the city.
