You know what makes things worse? For every Olympic opening ceremony the host country provides an advance backgrounder on the content pf the show to the dozens of broadcast teams from all over the world. It doesn't give away all the punches of course, but it does provide info on the program and the country's history and culture. Because José Broadcaster from Ecuador or Nguyen Broadcaster from Vietnam probably doesn't have French or Russian history knowledge at the tip of his fingers.

In the case of Paris 2024, needless to say the Radio-Canada team even had an advantage over most countries' teams, because French history and culture are already quite familiar to them.

I really enjoyed the opening ceremony and also how so many small details were thought of for these games. The location of the venue are amazing. I have noticed how the camera angles outdoors were thought of ahead so that the backdrops would be beautiful and significant.

I started watching everything only in French today since it's in France. The interviews with French residents and Paris Olympic officials are great.

Acajack was talking about how French is spoken on Radio-Canada. Well there is a way English is spoken on CBC. The announcers and anchors often say "Canadian" with much more emphasis on the second "a." Especially the female ones. They say "can-EH-dian" with "EH" being much louder than the rest of the word. I'll have to find a clip as an example.

How else would one say it? The emphasis IS on the second syllable. The only "CBC English" I've noticed is the shift from "Qwuh-bec" to "Qyuh-bec".
