Decathlon is great. They literally have gear for every single sport and at very reasonable prices. Some things I wouldn't buy there (like good hiking boots) but for everything else, it's great.

Plus it's a one-stop shop. It's busy too. I've never seen Sportcheck (how are they even alive anymore) or Sporting Life that busy.
Sportchek's bread and butter is still sporting equipment.

If you want hockey skates or a baseball glove for your kids they aren't going to want Oxelo or Kipsta or whatever off brands they sell for that kinda stuff at Decathalon.

Decathlon is in Mexico too, Mexico has so many brands from Europe that Canada nor the USA has.

Yeah, that's where I've bought from them. I'm actually surprised how brands like H&M arrived here before Canada, honestly.

Are you sure about H&M? They opened in Canada 20 years ago, and the company says the first Mexico store opened in 2012.

P2 might just be a dedicated elevator access from the parkade?

Or storage space.

The Marvel popup space was 25,000 sq feet. Their largest stores are around 30-35,000 square feet.

You're right. H&M was available here in Mexico unofficially way before that, but arrived officially in Canada first.

Zara/Inditex was the one that arrived in Mexico first. And has a much bigger presence here than Canada, surprisingly.

It’s a Spanish company though. It makes sense.

There's space behind the Sporting Life.
My guess is storage space, as the ceiling on P2 is really tall, so vertical customer circulation would be difficult.
If Sporting Life is downsizing, then a lower retail level may make more sense.

Here's the LD press release from last month

Quote:
Today, London Drugs officially announces the relocation of its Brentwood location in Burnaby to another prime location within the Brentwood Town Centre, featuring an innovative store concept that underscores the brand’s commitment to creating an immersive and service-oriented retail environment.

The relocation of the existing well-loved location on Lougheed Highway comes as part of the company's plan to offer an elevated shopping experience to the surrounding community.

Located on the upper level of the shopping centre, this purpose-built retail experience will boast a full-service London Drugs pharmacy and Connected Wellness program. The store concept will offer space where customers can seamlessly interact with technology, pharmacy services, and beauty products. The integrated approach will support customers’ health and wellness journey with ease by providing innovative solutions. Featuring a comprehensive pharmacy, patients will receive personalized guidance from pharmacists and the tech team, empowering them to adopt products and practices that enhance their quality of life.

Conveniently located at the plaza level across from the Brentwood Town Centre SkyTrain station, the new space will feature an innovative Connected Wellness store concept that allows customers to easily access the full-service London Drugs pharmacy and explore the technology and beauty departments. Customers can expect a spacious and vibrant atmosphere that showcases the unique selection of London Drugs products and services they know and love.

“We are excited to unveil this refreshed London Drugs concept at our new location at Brentwood Town Centre,” says Clint Mahlman, President and COO of London Drugs. “For over 79 years, London Drugs has been a trusted retailer for countless Western Canadians, and this new design further strengthens our ability to seamlessly provide wellness supports and innovation to our customers in Burnaby. We can’t wait to welcome our customers in to experience the new look and feel”.

The store’s grand opening at Brentwood Town Centre is slated for May 2025.

probably hard to compete with La Taqueria.

When I was last there about two weeks ago it looked like the Suit Supply had permanent signage on their facade as you can see it behind the hoarding.

I feel that food court is missing an Indian option. Hope there’s an Indian restaurant coming in the future.

At $50k monthly sales, if you consider them staffing 3-4 employees daily at minimum wage, plus the 7% royalty/franchise marketing fees, cost of food, packaging etc - they aren't walking away with much.

$1667/day is like 90 customers daily at an average $18 food bill.
