Village Voznesenivka founded in 1906. In 1956 it with other settlements were merged into urban-type settlement Chervonopartyzansk ("Red Partisans' Town") and in 1960 it was granted town municipal rights. In 2016 the town was de jure renamed with its original name, but de facto beeing under Russian occupation it keeps communist name.
