The municipality ‘Oude IJsselstreek’ came into existence on 1 January 2005 through a merger of the former municipalities Gendringen and Wisch. This area is famous about his iron industry, in 1689 the first blast furnace were built next to the river. (http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oude_IJsselstreek )
