Eschenburg is a municipality in the district of Lahn-Dill about 10 km northeast of Dillenburg. About 44% of the municipality is wooded natural area. The largest settlement of the municipality is Eibelshausen, with a population of 4,055 (31 December 2005). The municipality is named after Eschenburg, a 589 m-high mountain 7 km northeast Dillberg.
