Mount Huangshan has a long history and culture, and the source of civilization can be traced back to more than 5000 years ago. The cultural relics unearthed from Shexian County, Qimen and other places show that today's Mount Huangshan City has lived as early as the Paleolithic Age. In the Neolithic Age, the ancestors here had already created primitive indigenous culture. From 1959 to 1975, eight earthen mound tombs were discovered near Yiqi Village in the western suburbs of Tunxi, and a batch of bronze ware, pottery, primitive porcelain, jade and stone pieces, and lacquerware fragments were unearthed. After research by cultural relics archaeologists, these tombs date back to the Western Zhou Dynasty.
