Chuzhou, a provincial-level city in Anhui Province, is located in the easternmost part of the province. It borders Nanjing to the east, Hefei to the west, the Huai River to the north, and the Yangtze River to the south. It is the central city of the Nanjing metropolitan area and the Hefei economic circle, as well as one of the core cities in the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta. As of 2021, the total land area of the city is 13500 square kilometers, with jurisdiction over Tianchang and Mingguang cities, Lai'an, Quanjiao, Dingyuan, Fengyang counties, and Langya and Nanqiao districts. It manages two parks, Chuzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone and Zhongxin Suchu High tech Industrial Park. As of the end of 2022, the city's permanent population was 4.05 million. In June 1949, the Chuxian Administrative District Commissioner's Office of the Anhui North People's Administrative Office was established, which governed 9 counties including Chuxian, Lai'an, Quanjiao, Binghui, Dingyuan, Fengyang, Jiashan, Jiangpu, and Xuyi. In 1956, Chuxian and Suxian merged to form Bengbu Special Zone; In 1961, the Bengbu Special Zone was abolished and the Chuxian Special Zone was reinstated; In April 1971, it was renamed as Chuxian County, Anhui Province; On December 20, 1992, the State Council approved the revocation of the Chuxian area and the establishment of Chuzhou City at the provincial level. In the long-term production and life, the customs of the north and south have merged and evolved, gradually forming a common custom among the people of Chuzhou, which has been passed down from generation to generation.
