Suzhou is a prefecture level city in Anhui Province, abbreviated as "Qi", also known as Qicheng or Sucheng1. Located in the northernmost part of Anhui Province, at the border of Jiangsu, Shandong, Henan, and Anhui provinces, it borders the coast, is backed by the Central Plains, and is connected to Xuzhou to the north. It is one of the core cities of the Huaihai Economic Cooperation Zone. As of the end of 2022, the permanent resident population was 5.3 million. As of September 2023, the land area is 9939 square kilometers. As of October 2023, it has jurisdiction over 1 district, 4 counties, 18 streets, 93 towns, 1 township, and 4 townships. During the reign of King Zhuang of Zhou, Suzhou was known as the 'Land of Su', and during the Qin and Han dynasties, it became a hub for boats and carts, serving as a gateway between the nine provinces. During the Sui Dynasty, the "Tongji Canal" was opened, and Yongqiao, the predecessor of Sucheng, became a military stronghold. In 809 AD, the Tang Dynasty established Suzhou. The first peasant uprising in Chinese history, the Chu Han conflict, the Battle of Gaixia, and the Song Jin Fu's departure of troops all occurred here at the end of the Qin Dynasty. During the Liberation War, it was the main battlefield of the Huaihai Campaign. In 1999, the land was abolished and the city was established.

Suzhou has convenient transportation, with the Beijing-Shanghai, Lanzhou-Lianyungang, and Suhuai railways, the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway, and the Lianhuo, Jingfu, and Sixu expressways running vertically and horizontally. As of May 2022, there are a total of 9 national level intangible cultural heritage projects, including Zhuizi Opera, Sizhou Opera, and Huaibei Flower Drum Opera, and 30 provincial-level intangible cultural heritage projects. In 2024, Suzhou City achieved a regional GDP of 245.73 billion yuan, an increase of 5.1% over the previous year
