Open on August 1st of 1977 and ownered by Nacional Hotelera was named "Hotel El Presidente Chapultepec", was the tallest reinforced-concrete building of the country, the north second tower of the original project was cancelled, in 1988 was acquired by new owners and named Hotel Stouffer Presidente, in 1994 change name when added to the InterContinental Hotels Group with the current name but still owned by Grupo Presidente.
