Description
- Architect: Ralph Adam Cram

- Cost at Completion: $500,000

- Length and Width: 60.33m x 33.48m

- This is the second tallest church in the state of Michigan, being only surpassed by the Fort Street Presbyterian Church in downtown Detorit.

- St. Florian was founded by Polish immigrants, and served the blue-collar, Polish community of Hamtramck, who pooled their money during the "Great Depression" to build this massive church, which incorporated parts of the old church building.

- This church building won the American Architect Award in 1929.

- The church complex encompasses and entire city block in central Hamtramck, and it includes the church, church school, and rectory.

- The front facade of the brick and limestone-trimeed church features a huge Gothic arch at the entrance, flanked by two smaller spires. The central spire at the center of the church roof is the most prominent landmark in Hamtramck.

- St. Florian hosted Pope John Paul II on September 19, 1987 during his visit to the United States. He visited the church as a Cardinal two previous times in 1969 and 1976, and had a strong connection to the community because of its Polish heritage.
