Description
- Architect: (Mimar) Sina

- This ss Istanbul's second largest, but grandest mosque.

- The mosque was ravaged by a fire in 1660, and was restored under the rule of sultan Mehmed IV by the architect Fossati. The renovation, though, removed many of the Byzatine architectural style.

- The mosque was restored to it's fully glory in the early 19th century, but during World War I while the courtyard was being used as a weapons depot, another fire broke out. It was last restored in 1956.
