Sanya, abbreviated as Ya. Also known as Lucheng; Formerly known as Yazhou and Yaxian. Sanya City is located at the southernmost end of Hainan Island, adjacent to Lingshui County to the east; Beiyi Baoting County; Xipi Ledong County; South facing the South China Sea. Sanya is a prefecture level city in Hainan Province, with a total area of 1921.40 square kilometers. As of February 26, 2025, Sanya City has four districts under its jurisdiction. Sanya City is located at the southernmost tip of Hainan Island, also known as the "Oriental Hawaii". By the end of 2024, the registered residence population of the city will be 785001.
The gross domestic product (GDP) of the city in 2024 is 100.47 billion yuan. Sanya is located in the tropics and belongs to the monsoon tropical climate zone.
