- This is the 4th tallest structure, manmade or otherwise, within the boundaries of the city of Lansing.
- The tower functioned as a television tower until the mid 1980's when the tower was fitted with transmitters for WJIM's broadcasts of FM and AM radio.
- The tower was originally constructed by WJIM-TV for their broadcasts, at the time, in black and white. WJIM-TV (now WLNS-TV) is the second oldest television station in the State of Michigan.
- Originally constructed at a height of 128 meters to the top of the lattice structure topped by an antenna bringing the tower to a height of 153 meters, the tower was reconstructed in 2014 lowering its height to 129.7 meters to the top of the lattice tower and 131.1 meters total.
