As for camping, the park is to small for that right now.

The park will change a lot as the city grows along the south shore.
Edmonton is already along the South shore. Trumpeter, Hawks Ridge, Starling.

Yes it is and other than Hawks Ridge, its quite far back fro the actual park. Maybe the province can purchase that old Golf-course project and turn that into a camping facility.

The farmer that owns the land below Trumpeter was in doing some clearing along the south shore last week. an area cleared a few years ago had signs of a tracked bladed vehicle recently. I noticed it on Saturday.

When that new foot bridge goes in at Quarry ridge, that should open up quite an area to riding. Could do a straight shot ride from St Albert to Elk Island and back.

highway 15 Bridge to open next year will add another ped bridge section as well.

When were you riding near Quarry Ridge? I rode the MUP from Rundle Park to the Henday up to Quarry Ridge Saturday between 11 and 2.

The section between the Henday and Quarry Ridge is just wonderful - peaceful, quiet and rural, yet an easy ride from NE Edmonton.

We were on it Sunday morning about 11am. Sat I was in Lois Hole Park. Yup that section through Quarry is one of the best MUP trails in the city right now. Accessible to a lot of people and the climbs are not that hard.

I have ridden the MUP path from both Henday bridges and back. some pretty steep climbs in there. Also have done the same run using only gravel or single track and found a couple of 26% climbs in there. First loop was on our road bikes, the second loop was on our Gravel and Cross bikes. May do the loop on our fat bikes this winter but it will be slow.

Spectacular indeed.

I cannot wait to see the 'subtle' lighting on this.

I wish the bridge was designed with pedestrians on top level and transit below like the Brooklyn Bridge concept. That may have provided a more useful promenade for a growing city and visual prominence of the bridge focused on people rather than the trolley.

the grades are wrong for the pedestrian component to be on top as it links to the banks at lower elevations than the lrt. as a bonus, the pedestrian component is also a shorter completely level crossing than trying to do it above the lrt.

the views from below are probably better as well as they're not restricted by the cables (which don't extend far enough to pick up the pedestrian component if it was above the lrt).

lastly, there is probably some additional weather protection being under the lrt than above it.
