It's a shame the Superstore was not built or reoriented north-south on its parcel instead of occupying the full block east to west. Could have improved the urban fabric with more mixed use ground floor retail with apartments above on Richmond.

I don’t recall any development plans. As long as the grocery store is there, they’ll need the parking.

"The community" HOWLED against a lot of things that would have made this site so much better, even if it is better than what was originally proposed.

Also, Loblaws could really arrange the function of that building to better animate the Richmond Road side.

Good News! They seem to have seen all the tweets about it and have reopened the door at Richmond and McRae.

No kidding! And that stupid parking lot entrance was so narrow. You also had the hot food bar right there in the hallway as well as a lottery kiosk ? or something? maybe an ATM? I dont recall.

Anyhow.. super frustrating spot to try and walk though when by design you had several people just milling around standing there. My blood pressure would go up every time I had to walk into that place.

They have a nice little eating area on the outside corner of the building as well but it's completely separated from the hot food area. The front corner of the building should have been the hot food area with washrooms and a separate egress from the building. A mini defacto restaurant if you will.

They totally loafed the bed on this store. The entire Richmond rd. façade is 8 foot high vinyl stickers. It's disgraceful.

If it was me I'd spin/flip the axis of that store so checkouts are on the McRae axis and prepared grab -and-go food on the Richmond side with direct access out onto their (underused) outdoor terrace.

Turning out ok. Weird layout and location in regards to the parking lot but the big black windows and buff brick look decent.

375 Byron Avenue New Parkette

The City is looking for your feedback on the design of a New Parkette located in WARD 15. The New Parkette will be located at 375 Byron Avenue (northwest of Tweedsmuir Avenue and Byron Avenue adjacent to the Byron Linear Tramway Park). The new park block is not yet named; however, there has been a request submitted that will proceed through the Commemorative Naming process.

You can download and review the 375 Byron Avenue New Parkette Concept Plans in the ‘Document Library’ (located to the right). The concepts show the proposed designs and more information on the proposed park amenities. Please be aware that the final park plan may differ from the concepts being presented as a result of the public consultation responses, technical detailing, and supply and/ or financial constraints.

I don't have any updates, but I have been admiring the building. It's quite nice looking, despite it's odd location.

Quite nice. Hoping to see more redevelopment of the parking lot in the near future. The surface parking could be replaced with a parking structure.
