The Keefer | Completed

Set against the rich backdrop of Vancouver’s vibrant Chinatown, The Keefer goes beyond everything the sophisticated high roller has come to expect.

With four distinctive lofts residing in a revamped Edwardian building, The Keefer, is Vancouver’s first small hotel. Featuring everything from custom Douglas Coupland installations to a glass bottomed pool which doubles as part of the penthouse ceiling, Vancouver’s latest addition to the hotel scene has arrived with a bang.

With private elevators opening directly into each 2400 square foot, full floor loft, the space feels more like a privately owned abode than a room to let. But the experience only begins there. No detail at the Keefer has been overlooked especially when it comes to the visual, cultural and artistic journey guests will encounter. Keefer Hotel Press Release

it will also feature one of the more interesting bars (design wise imo) in the city. the Keefer bar is set to open in early Feb

Inspired by its Chinatown heritage, the bar is infamous for its dark, ominous interiors. As the hotel’s street level venue, guests mingle with adventurous locals and graze on Asian street tapas, while well versed bartenders spin classic cocktails using fresh ingredients from local Chinatown markets.

When did the Keefer become a hotel? I thought these lofts were for sale? I'm guessing they'll be put back on the market when the time is right.

the website says its for monthly or long term rental. dont' think it's a by-the-night kind of thing. wonder how much it'll be.

good point. according to this article, the owners changed the concept
"When Scout first broke the news of its coming back in August it was going to be a boutique hotel. They’ve now changed the concept to include just four boutique luxury short term rental suites – the sort of digs movie stars and big wigs enjoy"

http://scoutmagazine.ca/2009/08/21/n...-in-chinatown/

it says that rates ranged from $800 to $2,950/night

BTW, the penthouse at Level is currently renting for $500,000/month. yep,
half a million for the month of February. i wonder if they'll get it.
the place is over 5,000/sq but still...

Half a million for a month? Retarded.

The bar in the Keefer looks sick though. Going to have to check that one out.

That's insane. I'll laugh if they don't compromise the price and it stays empty.

A sharp looking new restaurant with a great neon sign just opened up down the block from the Keefer as well - Bao Bei. They call themselves a Chinese Brasserie. Some of the staff from Chambar are involved.

Suddenly, and rather unexpectedly, it appears that Keefer West of Main is a happening block!

It does almost seem unlikely a billionaire will make last minute plans to attend and spend the $500k

Wow, very chic and modern in that nouveau-Asian way. I like the artwork in the rooms...I've never imagined people decorating their room with wrestlers before but it really suits it.
