Market Fresh, there also was one in PdO, and possibly Galeries de Hull. Also the Toys-R-Us space originally was a full-size-for-the-era Dominion, most malls had a grocery anchor of some sort, Billings Bridge may be the last one with TWO grocery stores?

Edit: They did take over part of Les Ailes at Bayshore but only lasted 14 months.

St.Laurent should honestly just incorporate towers on the corner lots or on top of the mall with side entrances. Add in some amenities that people would utilize right off the LRT and it can be rejuvenated. Management at St.Laurent is by far the worst compared to Bayshore and Rideau out of our big 3 malls.

I think Market Fresh was Gatineau-based and its name on this side was Marché Frais.

They had stores at Les Galeries de Hull and a couple in the Gatineau sector too.

In addition to the ones at St Laurent and Place d'Orléans, and maybe 1-2 others in Ottawa? Not sure.

They were like a poor man's version of Farm Boy, and competed with them to some degree.

In the end I think they got too big for their britches and the chain collapsed.

There was a Market Fresh at Eastview Plaza as well, and Maloney across La Trappe à Fromage (and next to Blockbuster at the time).

Market Fresh was very similar to Farm Boy.

EDIT: I see Acajack already covered a lot.

Morguard REIT 2023 Q4 report indicates site plan control application is being prepared for adjacent lands for a 30 story residential tower described as phase 1.

Why do 9/10 towers planned from Lee's to Blair have to be 30 stories? What are we up to now, maybe 30 30 story towers? This city loves building walls and tabletops.

It seems to be developer driven. I am guessing that maximizes profit.

I recently asked a developer about the table top phenomenon in Ottawa and he said it had more to do with zoning and the location/site soil conditions.

He was very arrogant and maybe not the most trustworthy. Call it a data point.

Zoning for sure. Soils conditions no.
