New roof covering on part of Canada Place?

Not sure, but I think some of the new beige-coloured fiberglass roofing has been installed on the front (former IMAX section) of Canada Place. It's quite a cream-coloured beige, so it doesn't look too bad. However, when the whole thing is in this colour....not sure what the overall effect will be. Can anyone else verify?

^ It was in the Vancouver Sun a few months ago that the roof would be beige initially but over time would be bleached white by the sun.

Weren't the original sails off-white in 1985 too? I think people are quick to forget (or are too young!).

It will bleach out in the sun. The replacement panel at BC Place was white (tobthe eye) in only a few months. From inside it stayed "tan" for two years. Having worked with this fabric I have seen this effect first hand.

Construction worker injured in fall at Canada Place dies

By Staff, VANCOUVER SUN December 5, 2010 6:08 PM

VANCOUVER — A construction worker injured in a fall while working on the northeast section of Canada Place on Thursday morning has died.

The man had fallen "a substantial distance" at the site, where the sails are being replaced, around 7:50 a.m. and suffered life-threatening injuries, Ledcor spokesman Lee Coonfer said.

He is one of two construction workers injured at separate Ledcor sites that morning to die of injuries.

In the second incident, a person was killed after being struck by forming material around 8:30 a.m. at the Harbour Green construction site at Thurlow and West Cordova.

WorkSafeBC communications director Donna Freeman said inspectors were at both sites in an effort to determine what happened.

The names of the workers have not been released.

that story was published today - and it says the names have not been released but on the news on global the other night they said the name of the guy killed at the hg3 site and interviewed people who knew him and told people how they could donate money to a fund set up for him - he had 4 young children - why can't the media just get articles right

Sad to hear of them both
