Thunderbird Arena officially opened this weekend with the first Thunderbirds hockey game at the main arena last night, here's some photos I took:

It's utterly amazing inside....(except for the washrooms)

it is quite simple, but the massive size of the facility is incredibly impressive once you actually walk in. The pictures don't do justice.

Looks ok. I think it could use some artistic elements in those big voids on the walls.

^Me too. There is a lot of space.

I'd like to see local art and photography along the walls too.

It looks like it was designed by an engineer on a budget. It's exactly what's needed and nothing more, except for the cheesy thunderbird logo on the entrance.

I really hope they don't downsize the current 7,700 seat configuration to 5,500 seats post-Games.....just leave it as it is....

spent a little time checking this baby out... and well, it is an arena alright. Love the entrance off wesbrook but the rest leaves me underwhelmed even recognizing the required viability post-games.

I agree.....did you check out the washrooms? They're bare concrete on all 6 sides.

^ what's wrong with the oval washrooms? I thought they were really good. Except for the whole "TOILET WATER IS NOT POTABLE" stickers.

Yeah..I saw that sticker too! Well, I think the Oval washrooms needs more lights (too dark) and they aren't large enough...
