It's very much worth the effort and the owner shouldn't be allowed to destroy it simply because he's let it deteriorate to its present condition. You'd be amazed at what can be done with what looks like nothing. It can easily be made to look as beautiful as what's across the street. I've seen countless buildings in a similar state restored and the end result was astonishingly beautiful.
It being in front of Dominion Square is all the more reason for the city to put its foot down and demand restoration. Besides, buildings increase in value when they have heritage components. It's in the owner's interest to develop this site
properly. One can even add more beauty and/or grandeur than existed in the first place. This Toronto proposal shows what can be accomplished with a little effort and foresight. Montreal deserves no less.
