Do any of the Spragga restaurants do well?
Fat Ham is always packed and I'm pretty sure Sbraga also does very well. I know they are both delicious.

I can't wait for this kind of infill to find its way to North Broad.

Speaking of South Broad though, did anyone see that the Suzanne Roberts Theater is being foreclosed on? Is it closing?

Your 15th & Walnut update for the day. They're making some significant progress toward bringing it all down now.

Podium work nearly complete, framing starts in June for Toll project on long-vacant Society Hill site

Friday, May 2, 2014

2nd Street between Pine and Lombard, Philadelphia PA

Toll Brothers is finishing up the concrete podium on which the 55-unit 410 at Society Hill condos will sit.

Toll Brothers has so far sold 20 units, and despite a roughly two-week schedule setback due to this winter's mondo snow fall, they plan to be finished with construction in late summer 2015.

Brown Brothers & Harriman building making the switch

Staff Philadelphia Business Journal

Pearl Properties has plans to convert offices that now house Brown Brothers & Harriman Co. at 1529 Walnut St. in Center City into retail space, as BB&H relocates to another Center City site.

Space is tight along Walnut Street.

“There’s only a few thousand square feet available,” said Larry Steinberg, a retail broker with CBRE Inc./Fameco, who is marketing the space at 1529 Walnut with colleague Christina Zipf. “Everything else is spoken for.”

The property joins a long line of other bank buildings in and around that neighborhood that have seen first floor and mezzanine space go retail.

Is there only the one rendering of AQ Rittenhouse?

I can't believe they couldn't come up with something a bit more exciting. It makes me nervous about how this is going to turn out.

Oh and is there an AQ Rittenhouse thread at this point? Couldn't find it.

I created one but it was then moved to this thread.

No idea why, AQ is 12 floors and 151 feet and meets the requirements for it's own thread

And then the majority of cities in the US don't even have public transit from their Airport to Downtown...

...So I guess it's a matter of perspective really.

That's true. I basically ignore the rest of the country though.

Really though, it's a shitty entrance to what we all like to think is our world class city. There's no info on how much it costs (I stood by the info desk outside some terminal once, like 10 people asked the person at the desk, a few having wandered down to the platform then back up). It's infrequent (just missed one and another isn't coming for 29 minutes? you're getting a cab, and you think SEPTA sucks). And $8? It's $6 if you buy a ticket, but SEPTA in their brilliance didn't put a ticket machine there. You know, cause it's so low-volume.

For me it's about user-friendliness. That's what brings people back. And Philly does have a pretty nice public transit system. But it doesn't take much to give people a bad taste, and to have that be on your first minutes in a new city, well that's just a disservice to us all.

You ever flown into or out of JFK in NYC? SEPTA's not so bad for the airport. I still take a cab most of the time though. Especially if you're traveling with more than one person its worth it from CC.

Does anyone have more info on this part of the PHL expansion?

"Plans call for an automated people mover and a new ground transportation center within the next 15 years."
